About this workshop
Fundamentals of Agricultural Resilience: September 8–10, 2027
In this intensive three-day program, we delve deeply into a diverse array of agricultural topics, spanning from holistic systems thinking to the intricacies of soil health. Our exploration includes understanding the origins of modern agricultural challenges, how they have evolved over time, and practical, real-world solutions.
Participants engage in meaningful discussions, debunk myths surrounding food production, and take part in hands-on activities such as land monitoring. The workshop also provides a comprehensive overview of the essential services required for the production, processing, and monetization of agricultural products.
This transformative experience equips participants with actionable knowledge and practical tools to become catalysts for positive change in the ever-evolving landscape of agriculture. Together, we explore how to build more resilient, sustainable, and thriving agricultural systems.
Farm-to-table meals are provided throughout the workshop, including hearty breakfasts, delicious lunches, and evening suppers prepared by the White Oak Pastures culinary team. These shared meals offer a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow participants and White Oak staff in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
Leading this program is Ken Smith, a native Texan, former naval officer, mechanical and nuclear engineer, business owner, and entrepreneur whose journey from corporate supplier to fossil fuel companies to sustainability to regeneration advocate to holistic management spans over 40 years.
Ken is a Senior Certified Sustainability Professional and a Savory Institute Accredited Professional Educator in Holistic Management. He resides in Plano, Texas, with his wife, Susan, and their pit lab mix, Shiloh.
