CFAR Whistleblower Policy

Purpose:

To encourage and protect individuals who, in good faith, report suspected misconduct, unethical behavior, or violations of law or policy within CFAR.

Scope:

This policy applies to all CFAR directors, officers, employees, contractors, and volunteers.

Policy Statement:

CFAR is committed to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. Individuals are expected to report any suspected financial improprieties, misuse of funds, conflicts of interest, discrimination, harassment, or other unethical activities.

Reporting Procedure:

  1. Reports may be made verbally or in writing to the Executive Director, Board Chair, or any officer designated to receive such reports.

  2. If the concern involves the Executive Director, reports should be directed to the Board Chair (and vice versa).

  3. All reports will be investigated promptly and confidentially to the extent possible. A third-party will be brought in to mediate or investigate, as needed and based on the discretion of either the Executive Director or Board Chair (or another person relevant to decision making).

Protection from Retaliation:

No individual who, in good faith, reports a concern shall suffer harassment, retaliation, or adverse employment consequences. Retaliation against whistleblowers will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination or removal from the Board or Staff.

Review and Approval:

This policy will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and Executive Director.
